Stress and Divorce

For most people, a divorce is very stressful due to the uncertainty of moving forward in life.  Even an amicable or uncontested divorce can cause a lot stress because people getting divorced often feel like they have failed in life due to their disintegrating marriage, which also can often causes a tremendous sense of depression as well.

According to most surveys, financial issues and concerns are the number one cause of most divorces in the United States.   When two people don’t have a combined income that is sufficient to adequately support their lifestyle, it should be obvious that once they separate both of them will have financial difficulties in setting up their own residences.  Unfortunately, this can cause many couples to remain living together in a home that is already filled with tension, creating an even more stressful situation for both the husband and the wife.

When a husband and wife are involved in a contentious and contested divorce, there is an increasing negativity as they begin to blame each other for the conflicts between them which led them down the path towards divorce.  In order to make the break-up more bearable, it is very important to remain calm – which can be difficult when a person already has anxieties and is uncertain over what the divorce process entails and the costs that are associated with a divorce.

In order to obtain a divorce in Florida, either the husband or wife needs to file a “Petition for Dissolution of Marriage”.  In addition, there is a jurisdictional requirement that one of the spouses has been a resident of the State of Florida for at least six months prior to the date that the petition for dissolution was filed.  At New Horizons Law, P.A., Michael J. Costantino, Esq. will explain to you the step by step process that is required to obtain a final judgment which dissolves your marriage.  Further, Michael J. Costantino, Esq. will inform you as to the costs which are necessary in order to initiate divorce proceedings which include attorney fees, the court fees necessary to file your case and the cost of a process server to officially serve your spouse with the Petition for Dissolution of Marriage and other required documents.
